son.Kevin de Bruyne of Manchester City claims his rehabilitation from surgery is ‘doing really well’ after disclosing his injured hamstring was like a ‘wet kitchen towel’

Kevin de Bruyne compared his injured hamstring to a ‘wet kitchen towel’ as he awaits word on when Manchester City might expect him back.

The Belgian, 32, underwent surgery after collapsing during the first Premier League weekend of the season, and it was predicted that he would be sidelined until the New Year.

Kevin de Bruyne faces a crunch update on when Manchester City can expect his return

De Bruyne had been battling a long-standing hamstring injury during City’s march to the Premier League title and didn’t have a thorough pre-season, stating that his body had undergone tremendous wear and strain.

‘A big scan will be performed next week, and then we will know how the injury is progressing,’ De Bruyne told VTM. ‘Everything is proceeding as planned. It’s actually going swimmingly.

‘It is critical that I get this injury exactly right. There were numerous cracks. Those hamstrings could have ripped at any moment. On paper, there was a damp kitchen towel.

‘Eventually, after 700 (career) matches, I had a significant maintenance done, similar to what you do with your car.’

De Bruyne was pulled out during the Champions League final against Inter and believes he aggravated the situation.

‘In that final, I still had a lot of stress,’ he added.
